

Main Shaft TY856 6MT Long Ratio
Main shaft (aka input shaft) for 6-speed manual transmissions with trans ID codes starting with "TY856". This is for longer (taller) ratio applications such as USDM STI MY07+, Forester STI, and Legacy Spec B.
Optional REM ISF© (superfinishing) treatment. ISF is a precisely controlled treatment that reduces surface roughness left from the machining processes thereby improving reliability, reducing friction, and all but eliminating break-in requirements and the resulting swarf. Ideally, we recommend treating both contacting gears (drive & driven sides) for optimal results. Adding ISF processing may increase ship time by as much as a week.
The main shaft may require replacement due to broken 1st, 2nd, or reverse gear teeth. Other possible failures may include twisted input (clutch) splines, broken shaft, damage resulting from operation without a clutch pilot bearing in place, damage to the oil seal contact surface, bearing race damage due to lack of or poor quality lubrication.
